Ocean-Pro: Program & web site overwiew:

We offer "Weather & Routing for private yachts on long passages. From 1993 till 2003 we offered long distance, blue water, "instructional deliveries" on 40-50 ft sailboats. The program emphasized blue water boat preparation, marine navigation, dead reckoning, GPS navigation, and marine weather awareness. Our web site still reflects this emphasis and remains a useful tool for ourselves and blue water sailing skippers and yacht crew sailing crew. It fully explains our advanced offshore sailing, blue water sailing, sailing instruction, yacht delivery programs. It includes information on our offshore instruction, coastal and offshore concepts, blue water boats and many sailing, offshore, delivery resources. We've also included a suite of offshore marine weather products. The site has an array of detailed regional and country maps plus hyperlinks to current travel maps and information for each and every Caribbean island and country and all the Eastern US coastal states. We hope that you and everyone visiting the site, whether interested in the site, instruction, or delivery, (sailing vessel owners, boat brokers, sail dealers, delivery crew, sailing crew and even sailing schools and sailing instructors will all find the site helpful. Our goal is to be the best offshore sailing instructional facility in the Caribbean and Eastern US. So we seek and certainly welcome any and all inquiries and suggestions.

Ocean-Pro: Professional offshore sailing deliveries and sailing instruction:

We sought aspiring blue water skippers and sailing crew looking for offshore experience or offshore sailing instruction, or wanting to join an instructional yacht delivery. We emphasized preparation of the boat, the sailing crew, safety, and awareness of a vessel's status and position. We followed time tested offshore principles, sailing smart, reefing early, hourly log entries, dead reckoning, GPS, celestial navigation and staying apprised of the marine weather. And we always sailed with a marine ssb, laptop computer, navigation software, weatherfax and HF email capability. There are many facilities marketing "offshore" sailing instruction and marine navigation instruction. Many sailing schools offer blue water sailing courses and certifications, but how much instruction, to what depth, and how much "real" practice? Optimal methods and technologies change. We simply urge you to assess your priorities and to look carefully at any program. Ask for references. We emphasize in depth blue water boat inspection, preparation, marine navigation, (dead reckoning and GPS navigation), night time skills, landfalls and piloting, offshore weather, marine ssb use, etc. We fully support the efforts of the American Sailing Association, US Sailing and the Royal Yachting Association. These are excellent organizations. Our chief instructor, Bob Cook, developed our program over a 20 year period. It became a very serious, robust, real world coastal and offshore instructional program.

Ocean-Pro: Professional yacht delivery management:

We offered professional yacht delivery of quality offshore boats We screened all our sailing crew / yacht crew applicants carefully just as we inspected our boats before accepting them for delivery. Once accepted, we would deliver each boat with care, precision and on schedule. We were especially attentive to navigation, (gps navigation and dead reckoning), and marine weather. We sailed most types of sailboats, from 35-60 ft, and came to know the Caribbean and most Eastern US ports, from Texas to Maine very well. We contracted with vessel owners, yacht brokers, charter companies, and worked for brokers and charter firms such as Moorings, Footloose, Trade Winds, Sunsail, and Sun Yacht.

While you're here, browse around a bit. Take a closer look at our (navigation instruction), (yacht delivery), (passages) and (marine weather) pages.

Fair winds and big seas,
